Car sales fall significantly in May
According to the latest figures released, the car sales in Europe has fallen significantly during the month of May due to continued recession in the European region.
The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association said that the overall May car sales were the lowest in twenty years. The demand for passenger cars fell 5.9 per cent from the previous year compared to the same month of the previous year in the 27-country European Union to 1.042 million units.
The level of 1.042 million units is the lowest level in May in a period of twenty years since 1993, the association said. During the first five months of the year, the sales fell 6.8 per cent to 5.07 million in the region. The car sales were at its lowest in 17 years in the previous month and has remained low as consumers
The overall Eurozone economies by 0.2 per cent in the first quarter and its unemployment is at 12.2 per cent. Meanwhile, the wider 27-country EU's economy fell 0.1 per cent in the first quarter.
