Sabeer Bhatia bets big on his telecom venture Jaxtr

Sabeer Bhatia bets big on his telecom venture JaxtrHotmail co-founder Sabeer Bhatia is nowadays concentrating on a number of new projects, including Arzoo. com, AMP Tech and telecom venture Jaxtr; and is hoping that his new ventures will fetch him great success and fortune.

Hotmail, which he sold to Microsoft, was a quick success.  But he could not repeat a similar success with any of his other technology ventures.

However, he is now hoping that telecom venture Jaxtr will also be a great success.  Betting big on the new international SIM card Jaxtr, Bhatia said that the mobile company would generate an operating profit of $100 million every year.

Speaking about Jaxtr, Bhatia said, "For an international traveler, to make a call from US to India the average rate is Rs. 40 per minute, we offer it for Rs. 7.5 per minute."

When asked about other companies, Bhatia said that his Arzoo. com would generate Rs 1,000 crore in revenue in 2013; while X Mitter that gained 30 hotels as clients in the past two months will add another 1,000 hotels in the next twelve months.

However, land acquisition hurdles dashed his hopes to build his Nano city project - an imitation of Silicon Valley - in Haryana.  He is now planning to take the same project to Gujarat.

Bhatia also stressed that he wanted to make the existing projects successful before thinking about any new venture.
