Kingfisher management to hold meeting with employees' representatives todayThe management of beleaguered carrier Kingfisher will hold a meeting with representatives of employees today, on Monday, in order to find some way to resolve the impasse over non-payment of salary dues.

Employees have been on a strike due to non-payment of salaries for more than seven months. They have been demanding due salaries be cleared before return to work.

The Vijay Mallya-promoted carrier had declared a lockout on 28th of September till 4th of October, cancelling its whole flight schedule. Failure to resolve the issue forced it to extend the lockout till 12th of October. It again extended the lockout till 20th of October.

Sources said Kingfisher Chief Executive Sanjay Aggarwal has written a letter to employees' representatives calling them to participate in the meeting in Mumbai to resolve the issue through talks.

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has already issued a show-cause notice to the struggling carrier asking why the flying license of the carrier shouldn't be cancelled as it had failed in offering safe, reliable and efficient service. The aviation regulator has given the airline fifteen days to respond.

Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh has warned that the carrier must submit a firm plan to the regulator on safety and salary payments to employees before resuming flights.

Kingfisher is burdened with a loss of Rs 8,000 crore plus a debt pile of another Rs 7,000 crore.
