According to NEWS. GNOM. ES, citing a technical service message which was sent by BMW AG to its dealers on Friday, the Germany-based automaker has found some issues with the newly-manufactured 2013 M5 and M6 performance cars; and has halted the deliveries of these vehicles, some of which will be recalled.

As per BMW's message to the dealers, there is some problem with the engine oil pump of the new 2013 models of M5 and M6; with the issue likely to result in severe damage to the engine of the cars.

In its message to the dealers about the issue and the halted shipments of the cars, BMW also reportedly said that it is getting in touch with the owners of the 2013 M5 sedan, M6 coupe and M6 convertible, advising them to avoid driving the cars till the problem is fixed.

Elaborating the problem, BMW said that the vehicles being recalled are equipped with a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine - internally referred to as S63Tü - and added that a malfunction of the cars' engine oil pump cars can lead to a sudden loss of oil pressure; thereby triggering severe engine damage.

Despite the fact that BMW refrained from specifying the exact number of 2013 M5 and M6 cars affected by the engine issue, the automaker did say in an emailed statement that because of the engine-damage potential, the company and its dealers "will stop delivery of all affected vehicles until the recall repair has been completed."
