Honda to start leasing Fit EV hatchback on July 20 for $389 per month

Honda to start leasing Fit EV hatchback on July 20 for $389 per monthAutomaker, Honda Motor is planning to start leasing the Fit EV hatchback from July 20 for $389 a month, in California and Oregon states in the US.

The Fit EV hatchback offers an impressive 82 miles per charge and 118 miles-per-gallon, which is comparable to rival Nissan Motor Co.'s Leaf and Ford Motor Co.'s Focus EV. Hone is the first automaker to lease fuel-cell cars to retail customers in the country.

Honda has been trying to increase demand for fuel-cell cars that create electricity from on board Hydrogen, since the company started leasing the Clarity sedan in Los Angeles in 2008. The demand has been limited due to the small number of stations offering the fuel for the models.

Honda's new electric powered vehicles come with the option of collision insurance without any deductible. Honda believed that the offer will allow the company to remove a barrier to the introduction of their first electric car in the U. S. The company was concerned that insurance companies would be reluctant to determine the financial risk of covering the repairs of the vehicle because of its low costs.
