Tata Steel has raised Rs 508 crore ($111.8 million) from anchor investors at the upper end of an indicated price range ahead of a public share offering, reflecting investor optimism in the company's prospects in India's fast- expanding economy. Major investors include the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Government of Singapore, and investment units of Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, Macquarie and ICICI Prudential.

Coal India Ltd, the country's largest coal producer, will operationalise a new underground mine having a reserve of 20 million tonnes in Jharkhand. They are going to open a new underground mine at Muraidih near Dhanbad in (Jharkhand) which is likely to begin production within three years.

India's central bank has temporarily relaxed asset classification rules for bank loans to the microfinance sector, a move that it said will allow them to continue lending to the industry. Under the new rules, restructured loans to the microfinance sector, can be classified by banks as standard assets, even though such loans are typically unsecured.
