Join hands for the issue of cancer
Shire residents aided in raising awareness and at the same time, $50,000 for cancer-associated services in the Eurobodalla last weekend.
More than 700 shire residents walked the path of Hanging Rock AFL grounds for more than 24 hours, a testament offering the case of popularity with respect to Eurobodalla's Relay for Life, which currently cherishes its fourth year of sustenance.
The event has been creating records all catering for participation and fundraising in the Eurobodalla.
Since its commencement, it has accumulated more than $165,000 for the Cancer Council, which helps offer the money to local services. All money accumulated will be channeled to serve the event offered in case of the community.
Organising committee chairwoman Sandra Barlow states that the residents were more than excited to lend a hand in case of the year's event, which kick-started on Saturday.
"I think the event allows people an opportunity to thank the Cancer Council for the work it does, particularly in research and service-related fields. It's easy to get people to support the Relay for Life, because all of us are touched by cancer at some point in our lives. Whether that's ourselves, or someone we love, we all experience that pain and fear at some point. And the money raised stays in the community, which is really important," she added.
