New South Wales Premier Kristina Keneally asks nurses
New South Wales Premier Kristina Keneally has claimed that the nurses union to carry over the industrial umpire's ruling and sought for a strike aimed for Wednesday.
The NSW Nurses Association is aiming to be a major renovation of the state's public hospital and health care system in regard of the mandated nurse-to-patient ratios.
After discussions with the Government struck the wall, nurse vouched for the voting on Friday to hit on Wednesday, in infringing the ruling by the Industrial Relations Commission.
Ms Keneally states that the government has been performing negotiations in good faith, and has asked the union to call back the strike.
She said, "I'm quite disappointed that the Nurses' Association has decided to take this action. We are in a process of negotiation, we're there in good faith, we're having good discussions. It's very difficult to do that when industrial action is threatened and I would encourage them to take great heed of the Industrial Relations Commission's ruling - and that is that this strike should not occur."
NSW Nurses' Association general secretary Brett Holmes claimed that the nurses had been striking deals for seven months without growth.
