Anorexia Nervosa and Unplanned Pregnancy go hand in hand

Anorexia Nervosa and Unplanned Pregnancy go hand in hand A recently done study from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health has said that the Anorexia nervosa and unplanned pregnancy may go together.

While the study obviously takes into account factors like induced abortion, it also said that the people with anorexia might assume at the outset only that they can't get pregnant either because of the fact that they don't have menstrual periods at all or are having irregular periods.

Cynthia M. Bulik, PhD, the study's lead author and director of the UNC Eating Disorders Program said that just because of the factor that one is not menstruating and or menstruating irregularly, it doesn't mean at all that one is risking his/her ability of being pregnant.

Bulik, director of University of North Carolina's eating disorders programme in the US said that by all means Anorexia is not at all a good contraceptive.

It is to be mentioned here that the data was collected from close to 62,060 women. However, close to 62 women out of all were reported having anorexia nervosa.
