Warhol’s self-portrait has been included in Polaroid corporation sales

Polaroid CorporationA self-portrait of Andy Warhol was among the photos of the collection of Polaroid Corporation. This portrait was sold for 254,500 dollars at an auction in New York. It was one of the 1200 photos collected by the firm for sale.

The sale was due to an order of a court as the firm was bankrupt in the year 2009. The sale has produced 12.4 million dollars which was well above the pre sale estimation of 10.7 million dollars.

The moody 1944 black and white print of Yosemite in California of Ansel Adams has fetched a record price of 722,500 dollars, which was estimated to be sold in between 300,000 to 500,000 dollars. It has crossed the previously paid price of 609,600 dollars of his 1941 work, Moonrise in New Mexico.

As per the sources, this sale had the largest selection of photos by Adams ever to be displayed in market for sale. Adams died in the year 1984 and was also a consultant for the Polaroid Company.

However the record sale of The Warhol photograph was broken in the auction later as the self-portrait "Grimace" was sold for 146,500 dollars and later the self-portrait "Eyes Closed" was sold for 254,500 dollars.
