Safari 5 comes up: WWDC ’10
The WWDC event proclaimed an Apple's launch of the fifth version of its Safari web browser.
The Safari 5 browser is a faster offering that compiles a host of new features. It comes with a pile of tweaks that come in the form of DNS pre-fetching, improved page caching techniques, and an enhanced JavaScript engine.
Apple claims that this version of Safari i. e., version 5 runs JavaScript twice as fast as Firefox 3.6 (on a Mac, of course!) New features in the form of HTML5 add to the full screen video and closed captions, along with geo-location that aids in finding local services.
In addition to the above is the Bing search that comes along with the biggest sea-change is the Safari Reader service of the company.
Reader has been put on only for the web pages that Safari detects as being article based, and the idea is that it permits the user to read the piece free from clutter and distractions.
The new browser is available now for both PC and Mac.
