Google’s acquisition of AdMob gets regulatory nod

Google-AdMobThe $750 million acquisition offer made by Google Inc. for buying AdMob, has cleared the final hurdle and got the necessary regulatory nod from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

This has happened after the deal got a boost from Apple Inc., which had broken away some time back.

The FTC unanimously gave the approval and said that Google has gone ahead with this deal so that it can counter the step taken by Apple to enter into the mobile advertising market. The total worth of this sector is $600 million and the ruling can be seen as an end to the six-month old anti-trust investigation.

FTC said that both the companies are deep pocketed and will help in controlling the competition in each of the sector since they will counter-balance the steps.

Experts believe that the step taken by Apple to push the government to sign the deal is weird. It is so because sometime back it was itself trying to buy AdMob for its iPhone and iPad business.

But once it moved out of the deal, it bought Quattro Wireless, a smaller mobile ad service provider.
