London  - Aston Villa confirmed on Tuesday that goalkeeper Brad Friedel has won his appeal against the red card he was awarded against Liverpool on Sunday.

Friedel was sent off for a foul on Fernando Torres in the 5-0 defeat at Anfield, a punishment that would have seen him miss the trip to play Manchester United on April 5.

But a disciplinary panel has overturned the decision and Friedel can take his place in the side to face the Premier League champions. (dpa)
