In the fast-evolving landscape of electric motorcycles, Chinese manufacturer Niu’s RQi has emerged as a beacon of excitement, all set to captivate enthusiasts across Europe. Following some delays in its release, the Niu RQi now stands ready to make its mark, bringing an excellent blend of performance, range, and cutting-edge technology to riding enthusiasts.

The Niu RQi is, in fact, not a newcomer to the electric motorcycle scene as it was first unveiled at CES 2020 in Las Vegas. Initially it was teased with 40-hp output and a thrilling top speed of 100 miles per hour (mph), but it faced delays leading to a strategic revision in 2022. Embracing a more beginner-friendly approach, the electric motorcycle now caters to Europe's A1 license holders with its 7,500-watt motor, which is equivalent to approximately 11 hp.

Despite its beginner-friendly designation, the Niu RQi comes equipped with a robust powertrain capable of delivering 450 Nm (330 pound-feet) of torque, ensuring a dynamic as well as responsive riding experience. Acceleration is swift, with the ability to sprint from 0 to 50 kilometers per hour (roughly 31 mph) in merely 2.9 seconds. The top speed of the vehicles has been reported at 110 km/h (nearly 68 mph), ensuring an exhilarating ride for riders of all levels.

For energy, the two-wheeler relies on a robust dual-battery system, featuring two 72-volt, 36-amp-hour units. This powerhouse grants the e-bike a commendable range of up to 200 kilometers (roughly 125 miles) on a single charge, providing riders with the freedom to travel without the restraints of recurrent charging stops.

Complementing the aforementioned potent powertrain, the Niu RQi has an array of premium components, including Pirelli tires, a Brembo radial caliper up front, and dual-channel ABS for heightened safety. The list of technological specs includes full-LED lighting, keyless start, and front & rear-mounted cameras contributing to rider safety. Furthermore, the manufacturer has included a traction control system to ensure that the e-bike's abundant torque is managed efficiently. In addition, GPS tracking adds a layer of convenience for riders navigating the urban areas.

Scheduled to hit European showrooms within the first quarter of this year, the Niu RQi's debut heralds the commencement of an electrifying era for riders across the continent. The Chinese manufacturer has plans to offers e-bike in four vibrant colors, viz. Blue, Gray, Green, and Red. The competitive price of €7,999 (approx. $8,800) will further add to the two-wheeler’s allure.
