NIA will take over Bangalore blast case if necessary, says Rijiju

Kiren RijijuNew Delhi, Dec 30 : Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday said if necessary, the National Investigative Agency (NIA) may take over the investigation of the Bangalore blast case from the local police.

"The Bangalore blast is being dealt by the state police ... if necessary, the NIA will take over. But since the state police is [currently] investigating the matter, it is not proper for me or any Central government agency to comment on the case," Rijiju told mediapersons here.

On Sunday evening, a blast on the popular Church Street, which was triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), hit Bangalore, leading to the death of a woman, with three others injured.

Following the incident, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh stated that the Centre has offered help to the Karnataka government with regards to the incident.

Meanwhile, security has also been beefed up in New Delhi. (ANI)
