Kathmandu, June 4 : Nepali Government today decided to give Nagarjun Palace to former King Gyanendra Shah and his family.

A cabinet meeting held at Baluwatar today decided to grant the palace located in the northern suburbs of Kathmandu to the ex-king with proper security arrangements, said the Minister for Land Reform and Management Jagat Bahadur Bogati.

Gyanendra had enquired about his new residence and security arrangements after the first Constituent Assembly meeting which directed the Shah family to leave Narayanhiti palace within 15 days.

Gyanendra had asked Home Minister Krishna Sitaula to arrange a new residence for him on Monday in a meeting with him.

Nagarjun Palace which is situated some eight kilometres north-west from the capital’s centre, was previously owned by Gyanendra Shah in his capacity as king and was nationalised by the government in August last year. (ANI)
