Nepal Home Secretary says security arrangements for polls are reliable

Nepal's Home Secretary, Umesh MainaliKathmandu, Apr 9: Nepal's Home Secretary, Umesh Mainali, has said that security arrangements for Thursday's Constituent Assembly polls are reliable.

"So far, no major violence has taken place, besides, a few clashes between the cadres of political parties which could cause worry about security," Mainali said.

Though some elements are still trying to disrupt the polls, the government's security mechanism is capable of dealing with any kind of security threat, nepalnews quoted Mainali, as saying.

Besides 56,000 Nepal Police officials, 25,000 Armed Police Force personnel and 54,000 temporary police have been pressed into service for the polls.

Aerial patrolling was conducted over all five regions on Tuesday. (ANI)
