Munjals eying Honda's stake in JV: Sources
There is no denying the fact that the partnership among the Hero Group and Japan's Honda has been one of the most fruitful JVs that India has seen in the two-wheeler industry but as Honda is now planning to sell its 26% stake in the JV, it is perhaps the end of the road for the two parties together.
It has been learned from the sources in the India two-wheeler industry that the growing friction between the two parties on the one end and HMSI standing as a potential competitor on the other, with Hero Honda were the reasons that has prompted the two partners to go separate ways.
Moreover, the sources have also said that the Hero Group is planning to form an SPV in order to bag the 26% stake of Honda Motor Company in the JV.
In fact, market watchers are supporting the fact that Honda may offload its stake to the buyer at a rate which is less than the current market price of the scrip of the company. It is to be mentioned here that at the current market price valuation, the stake of Honda comes out to be at Rs. 9,000 crore.
