Movies make Good Money, So Indian Economy is Strong: Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad

Indian economy is going through tough times and the government has taken some strong actions to deal with the situation. However, Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad made a strange statement and claimed that as three Bollywood movies made 120 crore in single day, the Indian economy is going good. The strange logic offered by Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad isn’t the first time BJP politicians have created controversy.

International Monetary Fund has raised alarm over slowdown in global economy and has reduced its expectations for Indian and Brazilian economies. Indian government is in a denial mode. However, the government has also taken some important measures, the most important being lower corporate taxes.

As per statement of Prasad, “I was also told that on October 2, which is observed as one of the national holidays, three Hindi movies garnered Rs. 120 crore business on that day. Unless the economy is sound in the country how can only three movies collected so much business in a single day.”

Automobile sector in India has faced major decline in the recent months. Real estate sector and infrastructure has also witnessed bleak outlook but many companies are still performing well. Indian economy needs help from the government, not the denial of real situation. Media has been under control of the current government and instead of focusing on real issues, the debate on national TV has been about nationalism, security issues and troubles with Pakistan.
