M&M’s Bolero issue!

Mahindra-BoleroAs the company has been tackling from production constraint issue for the past couple of months, the utility vehicle maker Mahindra may soon look at increasing the manufacturing capacity for its flagship Bolero.

It is to be mentioned here that the affordable sports utility vehicle that has been a successful model in the smaller towns is now witnessing demand from urban centres too and now boasts of a 4-to-6 week waiting period.

Vivek Nayer, senior vice-president - marketing, automotive sector said that the Bolero's re-launch done by the company in 2007 attached an aspirational imagery to the brand post which it has been showing consistent growth for the auto major in the country.

For the record, the company sells 70,000 units annually of the Bolero but is facing capacity constraints for the product. It may be noted here that the product is currently being manufactured at the Nashik plant, which has a capacity of 1.50 lakh units annually.

Apart from the Bolero, the company manufactures Xylo and Scorpio at the same unit. Bolero is as of today a decade old model in the Indian market.
