M&M plans to launch a mini truck, passenger carrier
Though its dreams of entering the US market are still seeing hurdles as far as the regulatory approvals are concerned, auto major M&M is surely bullish on its success in the Indian market. India's largest maker of utility vehicle is planning to expand its presence in the light CV segment as the company is planning to launch a companion variant of its Maxximo.
M&M's automotive and farm equipment sector president Pawan Goenka said that the company will be developing more models on the Maxximo platform.
Though, Goenka refused to divulge details about the timeline and other things but sources confirm that the company is trying to launch a passenger carrier and a goods carrier with at least a one-tonne payload on the Maxximo platform in the coming four-six months.
According to the sources, the expected 8-10 seater passenger carrier will be positioned in the multipurpose vehicle (MPV) segment.
Aiming to take on the Maruti Suzuki India Ltd's Omni and Eeco, which control 80% of the market, and Tata Motors Ltd's Magic, M&M entry into the MPV segment will make the competition all the more intense for the entire industry.
