M&M aims to produce Ssangyong products at ChakanAs the company is planning to expand its global presence with the acquisition of Ssangyong Motors, it by no means indicates that it will doing away with the low-cost India advantage.

In fact, the company is planning to set up a stand-alone assemble line in its recently inaugurated Chakan plant that will be dedicated for the manufacturing of Ssangyong models.

Pawan Goenka, president (automotive and farm equipment sector) of the Mumbai-based utility vehicle maker confirmed the development by saying that the company will be launching a new assembly line for the Ssangyong models at its Chakan plant.

However, Goenka refused to give out the investment figure for the same. It is to be mentioned here that the company is in final stages to complete the acquisition of the cash-strapped SUV maker. The company is expecting to close the deal in a span of next four months.

The company is even planning to launch some of the models in the Ssangyong portfolio in the Indian market. Moreover, the products in the Ssangyong portfolio are in the next segment as compared to the products from Mahindra and hence, the products from Ssangyong will be a big boost for the portfolio of the conglomerate altogether.
