Misys to buy rival Sophis for £235m
Misys, the financial software provider, is about to purchase Irish rival Sophis for £235m with capital got from the disposal of Allscripts, its healthcare arm.
10 percent of the revenue got from the selling of Allscripts will be used to aid the financing of the deal.
The acquisition of Sophis puts the worth of the risk management software supplier to £375m, with also a net debt of £140m. This step is expected to make the Misys' treasury capital markets unit strong, and according to analysts this is supposed to be the most important part of its business.
Analysts also hope that the sales at Misys' treasury and capital markets division will increase by 40 percent after the acquisition and the earnings before interest and tax to increase by 60 percent.
The acquisition is slated to be finished in February, and will hopefully provide around £50m in the revenue synergies, all credit to the Sophis software which enabled the financial institutions to manage portfolios which do business over various assets.
Sophis' solutions are regarded as highly complementary to the already existing treasury and capital markets solutions.
Furthermore, it is expected that the company will open up to more acquisitions.
