Militants free 250 hostage students: Pak Interior Ministry
Peshawar, Jan 28 : Militants have released over 250 students that were taken hostage at a school in North Waziristan, the Pakistan Interior Ministry has claimed.
“They have surrendered to the local jirga (tribal council) and released the children,” Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier Javed Cheema said.
According to media reports, the rebels armed with rocket launchers holed up at the school in the remote village of Domail in North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
Police had surrounded the school, while tribal elders were negotiated with the insurgents. The armed men were demanding a safe passage, the Dawn reported. (ANI)
