Megabots launches Kickstarter Campaign to fund its Duel with Japan

According to reports, Megabots, Inc. has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise half a million dollars to upgrade its Mk.II, a 12,000 pound combat robot capable of firing paintballs at a speed of 120 MPH.

As per the reports, one arm of the robot is a missile launcher and the other is a cannon. Inventors of the robot, Matt Oehrlein and Gui Cavalcanti, have set it up for an extraordinary fight. They said that they make efforts in order to transform their invention into a more agile fighting machine for winning the battle.

Cavalcanti and Oehrlein, who are co-founders of Berkeley-based MegaBots Inc., are looking forward to come up with fierce and gladiator-style entertainment.

According to Cavalcanti, “There’s an entire group of gamers who’ve been waiting for this their entire lives. People like combat, and people really like high technology. This is a perfect blend. We want to make an entertainment spectacle”.

3D printing technology is continuously becoming more famous with time, and this Kickstarter campaign is not something exceptional. Names of the donors, who give a minimum of $5, will be published on the website of the company.

Those paying double amount, will be able to get Megabot sticker in addition to their names on the company’s website. Also, one can get rights to play Robocraft, the digital robotics game. With this, people can steer the Mk. II themselves.
