McDonald’s unveils Fresh Clothing and Lifestyle Line
Swedish headquarters of McDonald's has unveiled a capsule collection of clothes and other items printed all over with Big Mac images. The sandwich-themed items were launched in 'McWalk' fashion show at a mall in Stockholm.
The capsule collection included raincoat, thermal tops and bottoms, pillowcase, a dog coat, rainboots, and duvet cover. According to reports, the small collection will also be available online at the Big Mac Shop in Sweden. As per a statement given by the company, a part of the sales will go to the Ronald McDonald Children's Fund.
Becca Hary, director for global media relations for McDonald's Corporation, said that the company's Big Mac Shop is a branch of a campaign called 'mlovinit24'. It debuted in Sweden on Tuesday. The campaign was a one-day event that took place on March 24 where about two dozen countries conducted PR events in one day.
"Sweden chose to do a fashion event and pay tribute to our iconic Big Mac and they are selling some of their fashions for a limited time at bigmacshop. se. We want to create a way for people to show that they love the hamburger of hamburgers", said Hary.
Petra Dahlman, senior marketing manager at McDonald's Sweden, the idea to launch collection stemmed from Big Mac-patterned thermal underwear. According to the reports, the items will have different prices based on the type of thing. A pair of extra-large thermal clothing will be available at 495 Swedish kronor or about $58.
The collection is little costly, but it is much more affordable than the McDonald's-inspired clothes in designer Jeremy Scott's much-ballyhooed inaugural collection for Milan, Italy-based Moschino. However, many items in the Moschino collection were sold out.
