Maruti lost billions of rupees to labor unrest, talks remain inconclusive Auto maker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has already suffered 15 billion
rupees in looses due to the labor unrest at the company's plants while
the talks between the striking workers and the company's management
remain inconclusive.

The chairman of Maruti Suzuki India, R. C. Bhargava said on Tuesday that
the company had made 50,000 fewer cars so far because of the unrest.
The production at the company's plant at Maruti's Manesar plant in
Haryana has resumed on Monday after the workers protesting there were
asked by a court order to evict the site.

The workers had stopped work since 7 October demanding reinstatement of
44 colleagues, were not reinstated after a 33-day long strike that ended
on October 1. The company ahd stopped production on 29 August after it
asked workers to sign a "good conduct bond" before they could enter the
factory.

The company justified by saying that it has identified "serious and
deliberate" quality problems in cars that were produced at the site. The
issue was resolved after the workers agreed to sign the bond and
started working. However, the problem lingered on as the management did
not invite 44 employees, who were removed fro service due to
indiscipline.
