Maruti to look at Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan market for exports
Anticipating intense pressure with regards to the expected fall in the export numbers after the scrappage scheme called off in various European countries, domestic market leader Maruti Suzuki has recently said that the company will be looking at markets like Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan for its growth in the exports segment. Notably, the company exported around 1.4 lakh units in the last fiscal, the highest in its history.
However, after its major consumers in the European markets will not be getting the benefits of the scrappage program anymore, the company believes that the exports numbers will be flat this year.
The company has been focusing on Europe, including destinations like France, UK, Germany, Italy and Netherlands for the growth in exports.
Notably, A-star is the primary model that the company exports followed by products like Alto and Maruti 800. In fact, the company clocked a sales figure of over a million units in the last fiscal becoming the first Indian automaker to touch the one million milestone.
The company may look for exporting new WagonR along with Ritz and Swift to the new markets.
