Maruti launches new compact Swift Dzire sedan
India’s leading automaker, Maruti Suzuki India has launched a new compact version its popular Swift Dzire sedan in Delhi. The company said that the model would have an introductory price between Rs. 4.79 lakh and Rs. 7.09 lakh.
Shinzo Nakanishi, the company's MD and CEO revealed the new shiny model and said that the prices are introductory and are likely to be increased later.
The new model will be available in 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel options. The model is cheaper by Rs 26,000-31,000 as it is eligible for lower excise duty of 10% that is meant for cars that are shorter than 4 metres. The earlier model of Dzire comes in a price band of Rs 5.05 lakh to Rs 7.40 lakh, Ex-Showroom Delhi.
The new model will compete with the likes of Toyota Etios, Ford Fiesta Classic, Hyundai Accent, Mahindra Verito and Tata Manza. The new model will run for 19.1 km per litre with petrol engine while the diesel variant will offer a fuel efficiency of 23.4 km per litre.
Maruti and its vendors have invested more than Rs. 230 crore for the new DZire and the company would allow customers hw have booked for older models to change to newer models.
Maruti's managing executive officer for marketing and sales, Mayank Pareek said, “We have incorporated over 150 new features compared to the existing one. The new car has been designed keeping in view the urban youth and increase the average monthly sales of 8,000 units attained by the older Dzire.”
