Maoists blow up mobile phone control room in Bihar
Maigra Village (Bihar), Jan 29 : Maoists blew up the control room of a cellular telephone''s tower at Maigra village in Gaya District of Bihar to snap communication links in the area.
About 50 heavily armed activists of the Communist Party of India (Maoists) attacked the control room of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited
(BSNL) tower.
According to the security guard deployed at the tower, the rebels forced him to vacate the place before they detonated it with dynamites.
"I was resting in the control room. The rebels force opened the door and took me to some other place. They asked me not to go anywhere and then they started the rampage in the room," said Ranjeet Kumar, guard, BSNL tower, Maigra.
It is learnt that the Maoists blew up the phone towers so that their activities are not known to the police.
The Maoists claims they are fighting for the rights of poor landless peasants and marginal farmers. They routinely call for strikes, attack government property and target local politicians. (ANI)
