Maoist organisations supporting Maruti agitation: Minister of State for Home saysVarious Maoist organisations had been supporting the agitating Maruti Suzuki workers with an aim to exploit the situation to gain a footing among the working class in the NCR, Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh said.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Jitendra Singh also said that organisations sympathetic to Maoist frontal organizations, such as CPI-Maoist, had organised demonstrations to support the cause of the workers of the Maruti factory.

He named Mehnatkash Mazdoor Morcha, People's Democratic Front of India, Democratic Students Union, and Committee for Release of Political Prisoners as the organisations sympathetic to the outfit.

Speaking on the topic, he added, "Their objective is essentially to exploit the situation to gain a foothold among the working class in the National Capital region (NCR)."

In wake of large-scale violence by workers at Manesar Maruti Suzuki plant, the Ministry of Home Affairs had asked the Haryana police and intelligence agencies to look into the possibility of Maoists' hand in the brutal agitation.

The July 18th violence at the Manesar plant was the worst ever violence in its history of Maruti Suzuki. The violence left one senior official dead and nearly 100 others injured.

Jitendra Singh, however, yesterday said that there was no intelligence input to suggest that the violence in Manesar plant was instigated by Maoists or Naxals.
