Lips remain sewn shut as protest continues The discussion between immigration Officials and prisoners are continuing on production a protest on Christmas Island.

From the last six days detainees have been involved in the protest. This happened after an asylum hunter who committed suicide at Sydney's Villawood Detention Centre.

In this discussion more than 200 detainees were involved and about 150 are still objecting.

Last night about 60 detainees were protesting to this, but that number has seeing as tripled to 180. Ten detainees have sewn their lips collectively and some of detainees are refusing medical support.

The Immigration Department held that there are no more cases of self harm and now the circumstances are calm.

A spokeswoman says that it is not easy to tell how many are starving them because many are taking in liquefied and water.

She says that detention centre staffs have informed the detainees that their protest will not help fast trail their asylum seeker asserts.

On Friday, Immigration Minister Chris Bowen expected that this tension would increase at Australian detention centers as detection rates continued to fall.
