Left walks out of Parliament over price rise

New Delhi, Mar 18 :Left walks out of Parliament over price rise Left Parties today staged walkouts in both Houses of Parliament alleging that the price rise has become "unbearable and is going on unabated".

CPI-M Politburo member Sitaram Yechuri during the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha said the inflation was because of speculation in forward and futures trading and sought an immediate ban in forward and futures trading in 24 commodities to stop the price rise.

Attacking Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram of "wrong" diagnosis and prescription, Yechuri said: "His surgery may be successful, but the patient is dying," as he led his party members out of the house.

In the Lok Sabha, the Left parties alleged that the prices have raisen more after the budget.

“It is going on unabated and unbearable", CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said.

"Budget and the economic reforms are responsible for the speculative economy showing its teeth", he said.

While raising the issue in the Lok Sabha during the Zero Hour, Rupchand Pal of CPI-(M) wanted the public distribution system to be strengthened. (ANI)
