Latvia establishes diplomatic ties with Kosovo

Riga - The Baltic nation of Latvia established diplomatic ties with Kosovo, the nation's Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Wednesday.

Latvia plans to establish a permanent diplomatic mission in Kosovo soon.

"Depending on the needs identified by Kosovo, Latvia is ready to share its experience in order to facilitate Kosovo's development towards its Europeanization," Latvian Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins was quoted as saying.

Latvia recognized Kosovo's independence on February 26, three days after Kosovo's parliament declared independence. (dpa)
