Last minute talks take place on Queensland issue

Last minute talks take place on Queensland issueEleventh hour talks between the authorities over the Queensland land dispute issues are taking place.

Meanwhile, the Queensland government has said that a debate in the Parliament will take place. The issue is about making amendments in the land valuation laws of Queensland.

These talks have already been delayed by a fortnight.

Experts believe that as per the proposed tax rates, the property owners will have to shell out no less that $ 1,500 every year. For the large owners, the increase would be even higher.

Change in valuations means more land taxes will be implemented on the sale of land in Queensland. All the business and property groups have shown their resentment.

Meanwhile, Stephen Robertson, the Natural Resources Minister, who has been considered the frontrunner in the issue, has denied that the change came up totally unexpectedly.

He said that the government was ready to take up the whole debate in a legitimate manner and the discussions are happening since there are a number of concerns that have risen.

He was positive that some resolution can be reached within 24 hours.
