Lahore High Court disposes off Hafiz Saeed’s wife’s petition
Lahore, Mar. 5: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed off a petition filed by Jamaat- ud- Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed’s wife, Memoona Saeed, challenging the government’s decision to detain Saeed without valid reason.
Saeed’s wife said the government had detained her husband only to please the US and India without giving any valid reason.
“On December 12, 2008 the Lahore district coordination officer had issued detention orders for Hafiz’s detention with a note that the reasons would be mentioned later. But on January 10, the Punjab Home Department again issued two-month detention orders without giving any reason,” the petition stated.
In its argument the provincial government asked the court to grant the Home Department a month’s time to decide about the representation of the petitioner.
Justice Khurshid Anwar Bhinder, however, ordered to decide on the representation within a week. (ANI)
