Lads' mag offers divorce as prize

Sydney  - An Australian men's magazine that last year enraged women's groups by running a competition in which readers could win a breast implant for a girlfriend is now offering a lucky subscriber a free divorce.

"The idea is we're going to try to get this guy out back on the scene and try to set him up with some more suitable girlfriends to have a good time," Zoo Magazine editor Paul Merrill said Monday.

"When a marriage fails it's always sad but what's even sadder is being stuck under the same roof as someone who's shagged your best mate or something."

Readers are invited to make a case for being the most deserving of not only a free divorce but also help in finding a new partner.

Asked if the competition was tantamount to encouraging husbands to leave their wives, Merrill told Australia's AAP news agency: "You'd have to be pretty nutty to enter a competition to win a divorce if you're happily married." (dpa)
