KITT from Knight Rider voted Most Popular TV Car Of All TimeLondon, Sep 5 : Britons have chosen KITT, the talking supercar from 1980s TV series ‘Knight Rider’, as the most popular TV car of all time.

KITT, which stood for Knight Industries Two Thousand, was hugely popular because of its turbo boost mode that allowed it to leap over obstacles at 300mph.

The black 1984 Pontiac Trans Am, driven by Michael Knight, played by David Hasselhoff, raked in 24 per cent of the votes in UK.

Closely following with 20 per cent votes was Del Boy''s yellow Robin Reliant from ‘Only Fools and Horses’ at the second position.

Marty McFly''s time-travelling DeLorean, driven by Michael J Fox in the ‘Back to the Future movies’, rolled in third with 16 per cent.

Starsky and Hutch''s Ford Torino came fourth followed by the Batmobile, both with 14 per cent.

And Herbie and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang came fifth and sixth, with eight and four per cent votes respectively.

"KITT enables you to play the hero - with his loyal personality and often sensible advice, he''s above and beyond just a cool car, he''s a modern man''s best friend,” the Telegraph quoted Tom Evans from MSN Cars, which carried out the survey, as saying.

The nation''s best loved TV cars are:

1. Kitt, Knight Rider - 24 per cent

2. Del Boy''s Robin Reliant, Only Fools and Horses - 20 per cent

3. The DeLorean, Back to the Future - 16 per cent

4. Ford Torino, Starsky and Hutch - 14 per cent

4. Batmobile, Batman - 14 per cent

6. Herbie - eight per cent

7. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - four per cent (ANI)
