Kirshbaum to leave Amazon in January, 2014
Larry Kirshbaum, a known publishing industry veteran who joined Amazon's publishing outfit in 2011 as editorial head of its New York and Seattle adult and children's imprints, is expecyed to leave the company on 17 January,
2014.
Amazon spokeswoman Sarah Gelman has confirmed reports that the Kirshbaum will leave the company in January, adding that the company is sorry to see him step down. Kirshbaum, who has been a publishing executive and has headed Time Warner Book Group, is planning to become a literary agent again the country.
The company said in a statement, "We're sorry to see him go, and wish him the best of luck as he returns to life as a literary agent. Our New York office will continue to expand, as our overall publishing business grows."
Kirshbaum was expected to bring high-profile writers to Amazon but as Barnes & Noble and other competitors did not agree to stock books form Amazon, the company's publishing unit managed only a few notable signings with the writers. The company has indicated that its New York publishing office will continue to expand as the company records growth in business. The company is now planning to launch new imprints soon in the market.
