Kia to launch Rio on 1 September in the UK Kia motors will launch its new Rio super-mini car, which is expected to play a central in company’s efforts to improve its sales, in the UK market on 1 September.

The new forth generation RIO will be the first model in the series to come with both, five and three-door formats and the company will also offer a three door version next year. The new model is longer, wider and lower than the earlier model and its wheel has been expanded by 70mm.

The buyers will have option to choose from two petrol and two diesel engines. The car will come with the option of a 1.4 diesel of 89bhp, and petrol units of 1.25-litre 83bhp and a 1.4-litre of 107bhp.

The company says that the 74bhp 1.1-litre three-cylinder turbodiesel offers better fuel economy and lower and emissions than even hybrids and eco special models. The car has official emissions of 88.3mpg and 85g/km with use of technologies including stop and goes engine technology, low rolling resistance tyres, a drag-reducing front grille, gearshift indicator and rear spoiler.

The company says that the designing, is much bolder than the old Rio. The model will be offered with three trim levels ranging from £10,595 to £14,895.
