Kejriwal takes on BJP, promises to help evicted slum dwellers
New Delhi, Dec 20 : Criticizing the ruling BJP at the Centre for destroying thousands of huts in the national capital's Wazirpur industrial area, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that his party will make sure that the evicted slum dwellers get to lead a respectful life.
"Since the time the BJP has come to power in Delhi, they have been bulldozing slums. Those people are living on footpaths and pavements in this chilly winter. It's the government's policy that we have to allot compensatory plots to these people, who are driven out of slums," Kejriwal said.
"AAP is committed to give those people their rights and respect. We all need these people. They are the lifeline of Delhi and we need them. We will give them their due respect and a respectful life," he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, thousands of huts in Wazirpur industrial area were destroyed . (ANI)
