Jordan's king and queen on private US visit
Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II and Queen Rania left for the United States Wednesday on a private visit that was to last several days, the royal court announced.
The monarch is scheduled to participate at the high-profile Allen and Co conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. The annual event was started by and named after a New York-based investment bank.
Since the first Allen conference in 1983, chief executive officers of the largest media and technology companies, including Time Warner Inc and Walt Disney Co, have used the summer getaway to hatch deals, among them Disney's 19-billion-dollar purchase of Capital Cities/ABC Inc in 1996, Bloomberg financial news agency reported.
Investors at this year's conference may include billionaire Warren Buffett, the report said.
Jordan's king will also deliver a speech on the latest developments in the Middle East, at the annual meeting of the Aspen Institute in Colorado, a royal court statement said. (dpa)
