JLR to set up an office in Pune

JLR to set up an office in PuneWhile some are of a view that the Tata Group has made a wise buy at $2.3 billion for Jaguar and Land Rover brands, some believe it was too much to ask for, especially after the slump in sales the companies suffered due to the meltdown.

However, after two years of its acquisition, Tata Motors is all set to make a significant move in the Indian automotive market by setting a sourcing office in Pune, which will help in sourcing components from the Indian vendors for the JLR brands.

Analysts believe that this move is rather more beneficial in the long-run as compared to the small cost-cutting exercises. In fact, the strategy also testifies the Indian connection will benefit the automaker in the long term. Some experts are also of a view that as the sourcing will be low in volumes, hence making a big investment in establishing a office may just not make sense.

Moreover, as the sales are still moving at low level as compared to what it was before the financial crisis, the company must be working forward with its fingers crossed.
