Jet’s New Expansion Plan

Jet AirwaysNew Delhi: Jet Airways has decided to introduce new flights to San
Francisco, Washington and Shanghai from New Delhi and Mumbai by
February next year (2008).

The airline also plans to lift around Rs 500 crore through equity dilution.

While addressing a ceremonial occasion to introduce a daily service
between Delhi and New York (JFK Airport) through Brussels, Naresh
Goyal, chairman, Jet stated that in addition to Shanghai and San
Francisco, Jet was also looking for flights to Washington DC in the
coming time.

Jet Airways has not yet settled the date to lift up the equity capital.

The company sources said that the company may also reassess the sum
to be raised. Previously, it had projected to raise capital via a
rights issue but the plans were delayed.

The Brussels Airport is the Jet’s international centre point that
links riders to New York and Toronto through Brussels from Delhi,
Mumbai and Chennai. It also provides flawless connectivity from
Brussels to major European and African cities.

Jet has also nominated Captain Hameed Ali as the executive vice-president for its operations and engineering section.

As the company is making Brussels its global hub, Mr. Goyal told
that the Belgian government has decided to raise the two-sided air
service deals with an intention to offer for 56 flights weekly between
India and Brussels.

Mr. Goyal said, “We are also connecting from Brussels to 14 countries in Africa.”

He also said that the link to all European countries from the Belgian capital had become easier.
