Jai-Veeru: It’s Pathetic!
If you are thinking of ‘Jai-Veeru’ from a smash hit ‘Sholay’, you are on the wrong side!
Jai-Veeru is the name given to the new film directed by Punit Sira. The movie has already been released in India this Friday (March 13).
The film, which stars Fardeen Khan, Kunal Khemu, Dia Mirza, Anjana Sukhani and Arbaaz Khan, fails to impress audience desite having all the requirements of a formula film including good guys, bad guys, best friends, revenge, betrayal, romance, fight and much more.
The artificial story, adopted heavily from different Hollywood movies, revolves around Veeru, a petty thief who is good at heart, and his partner Jai who holds a secret.
The film, which becomes a game of cops and robbers and betrayal, might have fared better with an amount of camp humour, decent acts or even a polite script.
But it lacks on all sides. Buddy films depend on the chemistry among the leads.
Though Khemu makes an attempt at adding some zing, there is zero chemistry between other players.
Khan remains weak through his part. Anjana Sukhani is least bothered to act or react to any situation. Dia Mirza fails to add any twists or turns to the song and the story.
If any technical division sticks out, it's for the wrong reasons.
Sample this dialogue. In a quarrel, Veeru throws a chips bowl at Jai to which the latter replies angrily: 'Chips se marega mujhe'.
The production values are poor. It's unfeasible, for example, not to notice the cardboard edges of the private jet.
If you are anticipating Sholay references, there are none excepting the character names.
So stay away from this junk Jai-Veeru.
