ISC-2011 stresses upon science education and celestial studies
Indian Science Congress (ISC) at SRM University in Kattankulathur plans to team up with space agencies of different countries for planetary investigations, it said at the 98th edition of the event. ISC also looked seriously at India-US student exchange program.
Aiming to focus on the concept of 'Quality Education and Excellence in Scientific Research in Indian Universities' P. Sathyanarayanan, Vice-Chancellor of SRM University and Chairman of the ISC organizing committee, said, "The Space Summit will see participation from space agencies of other countries like the NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) of the US, Japan Space Exploration Agency, Europe apart from ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization)".
During the event General Secretary of the ISCA Ashok K. Saxena unveiled that a student exchange program tie-up with San Diego-based-American Association, for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), is in the pipeline to be addressed.
It came in confirmation with the authentication that approximately 40 per cent of the students in San Diego are of Indian origin. The student exchange program would provide them an opportunity to visit India.
Expressing the concern over the sinking level of science education in states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, ISCA president-elect K. C. Pandey said that there would be a session in science congress, which would cater to making science teaching an interesting platform for the learners.
