Infosys posts 33% revenue increase
India's second largest software exporter Infosys reported 33 per cent rise in profit in the third quarter of 2008-09, which currently stands at Rs 1,641 crore.
Drop in billing rates, adverse conditions of financial market and currency fluctuations failed to stop company's revenue growth in the third quarter. Infosys, CEO, S. Gopalakrishnan said, "This is a very good performance, considering the difficult times we are in."
The company is optimistic to witness sale increase, in between 29.1% and 30.3%, by March 2009. Infosys posted 35.5% increase in revenue as compared to initial forecasts of 34.2% revenue increase.
Commenting on customer's satisfaction, Infosys, CEO, S. Gopalakrishnan said, "While we are not proactively reaching out to those customers, some of them have reached out to us. If they come to us, we will take it as any other new customers, and evaluate accordingly."
An IT analyst at Susquehanna International Group, James Friedman said that Satyam's auditing fraud can help increase Infosys' business prospectus. He added, "We are aware of more than a dozen Satyam customers that may be in play, and clearly there is a great deal of incremental opportunity in the industry, consequently the outlook at Infosys may have brightened somewhat."
The shares of company increased 6.36% and closed at Rs 1,230.20 on the BSE.
