India's First public air purifier operational in Delhi
India has switched on its first public air purifier in capital of the country, New Delhi. It was placed at one of the most polluted location of Central Delhi. The World Health Organization has ranked Delhi as the world's fourth most polluted city.
Moreover, the Commonwealth Games are starting in October this year in New Delhi. And around 8,000 athletes and officials with 100,000 visitors are expected to come to the city for this grand event. So the government at present is busy in making the city look and feel a lot better.
Right now this is considered as an experiment of the machine. Environmental agency will monitor the performance of the machine before it goes for mass usage. The project will cost the government around Rs. 25 million.
However, the machine has so far succeeded in various other countries of the world. Systemlife from Italy has manufactured the machine. The machine has a box like structure and weighs nearly seven-ton.
The company has claimed that the machine can purify 10,000 cubic metres of air per hour. Other smog-choked cities in emerging countries have gained the advantage of the air purifier. It is capable of extracting pollutants such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide from the air.
