Indian investor becomes optimistic, shows study

Indian investor becomes optimistic, shows studyA survey released on Wednesday showed that the Indian investors have seen a boost in their confidence levels. This was pushed up by the improvement in domestic demand coupled with strong economic recovery.

The confidence was reflected in the India Investor Sentiment Index. It rose to 174 for Q1,2010 as against 169 in Q4, 2009.

The survey, which was done by ING said that the main reason behind this growth is the domestic environment.

Navin Suri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at ING Investment Management India said that it is the domestic demand that has pushed the Indian economy ahead of Asia. He was talking to the media while releasing the survey.

It shows that 91 per cent of the investors in India are expecting the economic condition to improve by next quarter itself. This has also taken into consideration the inflationary pressures.

Suri also added that the Indian investor has seen an increase in appetite for risk, and that is good news.

He further added that this opportunity should be capitalized by the finance companies as well as the other sectors.
