Indian automotive industry may suffer from Manpower crunch
According to recent report released by the Boston consulting Group, the Indian automotive industry is expected to take a hit as far as the manpower supply in the market is concerned.
Notably, the Indian automotive industry is going through one of its best phases ever in the history and this hit though is acute in nature but has the potential to give a big dent as far as the profitability of the automakers is concerned.
According to a recent report released by the consulting house in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry, shortfall of 3.9 million graduates, 0.6 million engineers and 0.75 million personnel with vocational training by 2012.
According to Shekhar Vishwanathan, deputy managing director at Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt. Ltd, the company feels that there is still a shortfall as far as the skilled manpower availability is concerned on the shop floor.
Moreover, Pandiyan Vairamani, vice president, human resources, Ford India Pvt. Ltd added the fact that the Indian economy still enjoys a big base of younger generation but a bigger challenge is to develop them as competent to gain appropriate education and skill development lessons.
